THE HOLISTIC NUTRITION

PHILOSOPHY

Holistic & natural nutrition practitioners take the approach of looking at the whole person, also considering emotional, physical and situational aspects. Their efforts are based on the fundamental notion that all the various parts of a person are connected and therefore interrelated. Because every client is considered to be unique and individual, there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

We use a variety of assessment tools which includes attaining a complete medical, lifestyle, and emotional evaluation as well as an in-depth dietary history to determine a course of action that best suits your individual biochemistry.

Our job is to educate and advise about dietary habits, food supplementation and healthy lifestyle. You will receive personalized recommendations to match you needs and goals.

Efforts concentrate on preventing poor health or reestablishing good health and catching imbalances in the early stages (diagnosis and treatment are not in the scope of practice). The main goal is to educate you on how best to nourish your body for maximum health and vitality.

It is well known that the proper balance of macro and micronutrients is an important aspect of nutritional recommendations. Ayurveda acknowledges the importance of this balance and even takes it a step further, by recognizing the importance of balancing the tastes, elements and attributes that compose each food.

Ayurveda considers the five elements of foods (ether, air, fire, water and earth), their attributes, and their taste (sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter and astringent) to explain how they will interact with us.

During your nutrition consult, we will investigate which elements historically stand out in your system and which ones might be more pronounced at the present moment. The goal is to balance out any given attribute that might be excess in our body via individualized recommendations that will support your well-being.

Ayurveda is a holistic approach to wellness and digestive health is one of its central pillars. Digestion is encompassed in the ayurvedic concept of Agni.

DIGESTION

& AGNI

Agni is a Sanskrit word that represents the fire element; it governs all transformation that happens within our body, including digestion, metabolism, body temperature regulation, tissue maturation, cognition and our vital energy. Digestion is not only Agni’s main role, but it also dictates how well all these other processes will work.

Food is our body’s fuel and through digestion is how we can access it. Our overall health and vitality are directly related to the food we eat and how well your body can process it. Ayurveda focuses on fixing digestive imbalances in order to address a different array of unpleasant experiences that negatively affect our overall well-being.

Learning how to support your digestive system will have a profound and lasting effect on your quality of life by increasing your energy, enhancing immunity, promoting natural weight loss and reducing potential health complaints.
